Discussion\ LGBTI+ Refugees and Asylum Seekers

We will discuss the struggles of LGBTI+ migrants and refugees in the light of the recent refugee crisis in Europe. We will observe the Dutch and German examples of LGBT+ asylum seekers support organisations and reflect sexual orientation and gender identity as two categories of persecution on which asylum should be granted.

Discussion\ What are the conditions for LGBTI+ activism in the Ukraine? Is there a link with Russian organisations? Can we compare LGBT+ activism in East of Europe with Italy and Slovenia, two conservative countries in terms of LGBT+ rights? Are there any common points despite the East-West divide?
